Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu inaugurated the new Cement Factory
established by the Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Limited at Kagithapuram in
Karur district through video conference from Chennai on Wednesday the 30th of
January, 2013. The Cement Factory has been established at a total
cost of Rs.100 crores.
Hon’ble Minister for Industries of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. Thangamani,
Hon’ble Minister for Transport of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. V.Senthil Balaji,
Chief Secretary Tmt. Sheela Balakrishnan, I.A.S., Government of Tamil Nadu,
Principal Secretary for Industries and Chairman and Managing Director of TNPL,
Thiru. N.S.Palaniappan I.A.S., and Thiru. A.Velliangiri, Deputy Managing Director of
TNPL were present during the inaugural function held in Chennai.
Tmt. S.Jayandhi, I.A.S., District Collector, Karur District and Senior Executives of
TNPL, Local body representatives and others witnessed the inaugural function
through live video conferencing at the Factory at Kagithapuram of Karur District.
TNPL Cement factory has a capacity to manufacture 600 tonnes of Cement per day
and it is the first ever Cement Factory established by a Paper Mill in India to use the
waste it generates as the major raw material viz., Lime Sludge and Dry ash.
